April 2026 ― Full Integration
Building on a rich history to reach even greater heights
NPR-RIKEN becomes an operating holding company
Whereas previously Riken Corporation and Nippon Piston Ring Co., Ltd. (NPR) were subsidiaries of NPR-RIKEN, in April 2026, corporate split procedures were implemented to transfer their sales, development, and corporate divisions to NPR-RIKEN. As a result, NPR-RIKEN became an “operating holding company.”
Since the business merger in October 2023, we have been advancing substantive integration through establishing divisions for overseeing the subsidiaries and subcommittee for integration. However, with this transfer of operations, full-scale integration are now implemented at the business line level as well.
What will this change?
Sales Framework
NPR-RIKEN handles direct sales to automotive and marine engine manufacturers, as well as other customers, who were previously served separately by Riken and NPR.
Development Framework
Intellectual property and related assets are managed by NPR-RIKEN, and R&D activities are centralized at NPR-RIKEN. Through this approach, we will build a more robust development framework.
Governance
The Corporate Divisions, which paying a leading rols as the second line of management governance are integrated into NPR-RIKEN. In this way, we aim to establish an effective and efficient governance structure that spans the entire group.
Six business units to drive operations
Business units are placed under NPR-RIKEN, and their respective operations, including those of manufacturing subsidiaries and other affiliated companies, will be led by the business unit directors.
What does that mean exactly?
・We organized our business divisions into groups based on compatibility in terms of customers, product characteristics, and manufacturing methods and will operate strategically and efficiently without regard to the boundaries of the former organizational structure.
・We delegate day-to-day decision-making to the business units and strive for agile management.
・We will conduct our business operations with a focus on asset efficiency, including ROIC.

About NPR-RIKEN’s Six Business UnitsManufacturing divisions spun off as subsidiaries
The manufacturing divisions were spun off as subsidiaries and placed under the jurisdiction of the business units.
What will this change?
・Riken and NPR has changed their company names and was reborn as manufacturing subsidiaries of NPR-RIKEN, working to improve productivity and quality under the leadership of the business units.
Although the names “Riken Corporation” and “Nippon Piston Ring Co., Ltd.” will no longer exist, we will carry forward over a century of customer trust, experience, and expertise into the next era and aim for further growth on a new stage.
・We will further advance our efforts to strengthen our global optimal production structure, including our overseas subsidiaries.
Head office functions centralized in Tokyo
We revised our current structure, in which we maintain head offices in both Tokyo and Saitama City, and transition to a single-head office structure, based in Tokyo.
In FY2027, we plan to consolidate all headquarters functional departments and relocate the entire headquarters to the Tokyo Sankei Building in Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
What kind of benefits
will this provide?
From April 2026, we shifted from our current dual-head office structure, with offices in both Tokyo and Saitama City, to a structure where corporate and international operations are centralized in Tokyo. This move will enable faster decision-making and stronger communication, thereby supporting proactive expansion of our business.
In FY2027, we plan to relocate the domestic sales and administrative divisions remaining in Saitama City to the Tokyo Sankei Building in Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
Led by a project team, we are exploring ways to create a comfortable office that fosters creative ideas and delights our customers while taking our employees’ opinions into account.
