NPR-RIKEN’s surface treatment is based on PVD and DLC technologies developed for piston rings, which are used under the harsh conditions found inside engines. As coatings, they combine the most crucial properties — high adhesion, high wear resistance, low friction, and long service life — making them ideal surface treatments not only for piston rings but also for other mechanical components.
Currently, these technologies are being applied not only to mechanical components but also to electronic components and medical device parts. We can develop and customize coatings to meet our customers’ specific needs.

DLC coating for machine parts

Long-life, thick-film DLC: Superior performance in sliding properties and wear resistance.

Reduces wear by more than 50% compared to CrN coating.

Reduces 5–15 μm thickness through optimized adhesion and unique layering technology.
